2018

In 2018 the WANTZ Committee once again proudly supported AEIOU Foundation - for children with autism in their endeavour to establish a brand new centre to service families in the North of Brisbane.

AEIOU Foundation is a not-for-profit organization and one of Australia's leading providers of full-time early education and therapy support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), aged two to six years.

AEIOU Foundation was founded twelve years ago by Brisbane parents Dr. James Morton AM and his wife Louise after their son Andrew was diagnosed with autism at two years of age. AEIOU Foundation operates from 8 locations across Queensland, including Brisbane, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and Townsville. Its first interstate centre was proudly established in Adelaide in 2015, putting AEIOU Foundation on track to achieve its plan to provide services throughout Australia to meet the need.

One in 100 children are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder each year. The service offered by AEIOU Foundation is an evidence-based programme with the primary objective to teach children vital communication, socialisation, cognitive development and independence skills which helps each child to reach his/her full potential. AEIOU Foundation for children with autism, provides high quality early intervention for pre-school aged children with an autism diagnosis between the ages of two and six years. If this proramme is successfully completed, 70% of children with autism go to mainstream schools as opposed to 20% who do not.

WANTZ Committee was absolutely delighted to have fundraised over $167,000 towards the purchase of much-needed equipment for the AEIOU Foundation. A huge thank you to all the sponsors, donors and guests without whose generosity this would not have been possible.
