2014 In 2014 the WANTZ Committee proudly supported Childhood Cancer Support Inc. and successfully raised $178,725.22. Childhood Cancer Support Inc.is a Qld registered charity which provides family style accommodation for families impacted by childhood cancer. The charity was established in 1975 by a group of city and regional families whose children were undergoing treatment in Brisbane. They found there was no accommodation suited to families with seriously ill oncology children. Childhood Cancer Support specialises in medium and long term accommodation with median lengths of stay close to 100 days in any given year, with 1 in 4 stays being over 200 days in length. Childhood Cancer Support Inc. does not levy families for any service that it provides, irrespective of whether they receive subsidies. relying on donations and the proceeds of fundraising activities to fund up to 70% of its operating costs and capital works.
