Ms. MARISA VECCHIO AM

Marisa

Marisa Vecchio AM is owner and “Chief Executive of Everything” at beautiful Hanworth House, one of Brisbane’s oldest residences. Previously Marisa was a national CEO, business leader and company director for nearly 20 years, winning the 2004 Queensland Telstra Businesswoman of the Year.

In 2012 Marisa took on her biggest challenge, the restoration of historic Hanworth House which was tragically attacked by arson only weeks from opening.  Like a phoenix, it rose from the ashes to open on its 150th birthday and now offers boutique accommodation and events with purpose. Hanworth has been accoladed in winning the 2014 Qld Heritage Council Gold Award, the John Herbert Memorial Award for most outstanding nomination and 2015 Premier’s Sustainability Award.

Marisa believes that business has only one purpose and that is to make communities stronger - Since 1997, she has been an active member of Zonta International which advances the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. She has been an active member of the Queensland University of Technology including as President of the Alumni and Member of QUT Council. She is a strong supporter of the Qld Ballet, Brisbane Festival, Mater Foundation, and Women’s Legal Service Qld and, since 2014 has been Ambassador of WLS, including a Fundraising Champion in its Dancing CEOs extravaganza.

In 2017 Marisa was recognised for her corporate and philanthropic works in being awarded both an Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours as well as the 2017 Queensland Community Foundation’s Community Philanthropist of the Year. In 2019 she was recognised by QUT as a Doctor of the University.

Marisa joined the WANTZ Committee in 2009.
